The Etika is a direct tribute to the racing seaplanes of the Schneider Cup—1930s speed demons whose gauges were subjected to destructive vibrations during takeoff. To survive, cockpit chronometers were never fixed directly to the dashboard; instead, they were suspended on steel mounting plates.
The defining characteristic of this model is its powerful contrast: a refined central cell “bridged” by four massive steel bolts at the corners. These screws are not merely decorative; they simulate the silentblocs—metal shock absorbers—that once insulated precision instruments from the thunder of V12 engines.
The central dial and its silver small-seconds sub-dial mirror the visual codes of air pressure gauges found in pressurized cockpits. Wearing an Etika is like carrying a fragment of a pioneer’s flight deck on your wrist, where the beauty of design was, above all, a servant to mechanical survival.

David Van Heim was born from a personal gesture — a father driven by the desire to build a legacy he could one day entrust to his son. We didn’t just create a brand. We built a bridge between two lives.
